YGG insights
The 2023 projects are well underway

Now nearly 250,000 plants have gone down in YGG's projects so far this summer. This year we planted all five major tree species used in Icelandic forestry; spruce, pine, larch, birch and poplar. There are three forestry projects to be implemented this year, two of which are in the East and one in the West. At the same time, we started the preparation of a project in the restoration of wetlands in the Nordic region that we would like to develop in progress the international standard VERRA. That work is right on the first meters.

Everything is according to plan and good progress in projects. The growers could have had a little more mild weather in July, but the temperature has barely crept above 10°C here in the East. The growers are moving to the West this autumn and hopefully they will be well received.

Along with the summer construction, preparations are also in full swing for the next projects, 2024 and 2025. Now is the time to work in mapping and analysis work for breeding programs, drone photography, archaeological records, tillage, fence work and various kinds of preparations that are difficult to carry out over the high winter. Lots of people come to YGG's projects this summer like last summer and it's nice to see the wide range of knowledge that is being created around the projects.
