Then the summer is over but about 830,000 plants went down this summer in YGG's second year of operation. That means just over 1.3 million plants have gone down in YGG's climate projects, and those trees are estimated to be sequestering over 250,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere over the next 50 years. Species are, as before, spruce, fir, larch and birch. Seven landowners are partnering with YGG on these forestry projects and at least six landowners will be added in the new year. This summer we also started a pilot project in the restoration of wetlands on one land in the Nordic region.
Next year's layout is in the works but many angles are being looked at there; contracts with landowners, building permits, archaeological registrations, earthworks and fencing. We are also looking at measurements of carbon stocks in soils, but it is an extremely interesting project and the opportunities numerous to build climate projects on that level.
